Alisa Goldstein

Therapist

I am a BACP-registered counsellor specialising in family dynamics. I help adults understand the patterns that shape their relationships and sense of self.

I work with adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or caught in patterns that no longer seem to serve them. Many of the people I see grew up in families that were loving in some ways, but difficult to navigate. They may find themselves struggling with boundaries, relationships, anxiety, guilt, people-pleasing, or a persistent sense of being responsible for everyone else’s wellbeing.

My approach is relational, thoughtful, and collaborative. Together, we explore the patterns that developed to help you cope, belong, and stay connected, creating greater clarity, flexibility, and choice in the present.

Alongside individual counselling, I also offer relationship-focused parenting sessions for parents and carers who want to better understand themselves and their family relationships.

Areas of Interest

I have a particular interest in family dynamics and how our early relationships continue to shape our lives.

Areas I commonly work with include:

• Anxiety and low mood
• Family relationships and family dynamics
• Boundaries and people-pleasing
• Relationship difficulties
• Attachment patterns
• Identity and sense of self
• Guilt, shame responsibility, and self-worth
• Life transitions and change
• Parenting and caregiving relationships
• Estrangement, loss, and family rupture

At the heart of my work is a respect for complexity. People are rarely one thing, families are rarely simple, and change is rarely linear.
